A
- His mother - Monika (a devout Christian)
- manichees (followed them as a young man)
- Plotinus ( there is only one form of god)
The manichees and Plotinus went directly against each other

A
People have 2 different souls, he world is a cosmic battle between good and evil

A
- evil is not a substance but a turning away from good
- they are negative about the body, chisel away at parts that are not quite right
