Crosstalk
Transfers of signals that are unwanted between communication channels.
Bit depth
Sample of rate work to determine the resolution for the digital audio.
Crossfade
The fading of one audio or track to another.
Fade
The gradual appearance of an image or a sound, especially as transitions.
Layering
Recording several copied of a musical part to be performed on top of each other.
Omnidirectional Mic
Microphone that picks up sound from every direction.
Buffer size
Amount of data a computer program can handle.
Bi-Directional
Microphone that picks up sound from only the front and back and not the sides.
Bed
A sound production that is referred to the music or ambiance sounds playing in the background under speech or scenes.
Board (Mixing Board)
Tool that allows the combining of multiple audio sources into one signal for recording.
Clipping
Happens when the recording of an audio disorts because the sound level is over the limit the equipment can capture.
Compressor
Way of making an audio or video file smaller while keeping the sound quality the same.
Pixel
What creates an image.

Evening out the sound levels in an audio file. Can be done while recording in hardware or post production via software.
Gate
Piece of hardware that sets a minimum of sound level before any sound is recorded. (Often incorporated in a hardware compressor)
Intro
Short video/audio clip placed before a podcast, video, music, or announcement
ID3 Tag
Part of MP3 file allows data about the file to be stored.
MP3
Popular audio file format. Mostly used for podcasts.
Outro
Short audio or video clip placed at the end of a video or podcast.
