Q

Frequency

A

The speed of the vibration. . This frequency determines pitch of sound. Frequency is measured as the number wave cycles that occur in one second. Measured in hertz.

Q

Resonance

A

A particular frequency range of frequencies that cause an object to sympathetically vibrate. Those frequencies, when tuned, can be perceived as pitch. This is the fundamental design principle of the creation and development of musical instruments.

Q

Bandwidth

A

20 Hz - 20k Hz. Although there are harmonic components of audio that extend far above the 20k point.

Q

Expand mode in compression

A

Acts as an upward expander. The output level will rise as the input level exceeds threshold.

Gain

A

Loudness of input on channel. It controls tone but does not affect loudness.

Q

Tone

A

Characterized by duration, pitch, intensity (loudness) , and timbre (quality). A simple tone has only one frequency. A complex tone has two or more simple tones, called overtones.
