How is Julian McDougall’s theory applied to my work?
I do agree and believe that I could apply Julian McDougall’s theory to my trailer. With the online age is it trickier for me to conceive that my audience is stable and identifiable. Because of the online age films are becoming more accessible to everyone at any time anywhere, people are no longer limited due to factors such as age certificates and with the ability to stream content or download, me as a producer can no longer say that my audience would be males from the age of 18-30, but instead I now have to recognise that I have a secondary audience of ages 15-50 of both genders and any social class or ethnicity. When applying this to my work I could look at how my wide and diverse cast could contribute to my film potentially being watched by a wider audience than I initially thought, because of the identifiable characters it is conceivable that more people would watch the film.
