Direct discrimination
• Purposely treated differently due to gender, age, class, sexual orientation, religion and ethnicity.
Indirect discrimination
• Subtly/unknowingly treating someone differently.
Prejudice
- Pre-judging someone without knowing them.
* Could be : looks, clothing, accent.
Empowerment
• Allowing someone to take control of their own life.
Stereotype
• Placing people into specific categories in society due to presumed ideas.
Self-esteem
• Understanding ourselves.
Primary Socialisation
- First type of socialisation.
- In the family.
- Learn beliefs and attitudes first.
Secondary socialisation
• Factors that effect our beliefs and views whilst we grow and develop.
