I: iliotibial tract & gluteal tuberosity of femur
N: inferior gluteal nerve (L5-S2)
F: thigh extension, external rotation, thigh abduction (superior part), thigh abduction (inferior part)
Gluteus Medius attachments
O: Gluteal surface of ilium
I: greater trochanter (lateral aspect)
N: superior gluteal nerve (L4-S1)
F: Thigh abduction & internal rotation (pelvis stabilisation)
Tensor fascia Latae attachments
O: ASIS (outer lip of iliac crest)
I: iliotibial band/tract
N: superior gluteal nerve (L4- S1)
F: thigh internal rotation, knee joint: external rotation (stabilises hip & knee )
Psoas Major attachments
O:Vertebral bodies T12- L4, Costal processes L1-L5
I: Lesser trochanter of femur
N: Anterior rami of spinal nerves (L1-L3)
F: Thigh and trunk flexion
Piriformis attachments
O: Sacrum (Anterior surface S2-S4), gluteal surface of ilium (near PIIS, sacrotuberous ligament)
I: Greater trochanter of femur (apex)
N: S1-S2 (nerve to piriformis)
F: Thigh external rotation, thigh abduction (from flexed hip), helps stabilise the head of femur in acetabulum.
Rectus femoris attachments
O: Anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS)
I: tibial tuberosity via patella ligament
N: L2-L4 (femoral nerve)
F: thigh/leg extension from hip & knee
Sartorius attachments

N: L2-L4 femoral nerve
F: thigh flexion, thigh aBDuction, external rotation. Knee: leg flexion, internal rotation.
Innervation of the gluteus max is?
Interior gluteal nerve L5-S2
All Quads are innervates by the ….
L2-L4 femoral nerve
Vastus intermedius origin
Anterior surface of femoral shaft
Vastus lateralis origin….
Linera aspera
Greater trochanter of femur
Vastus medialis
O:Inter trochanteric line, Linera aspera & spiral line & Medial supracondylar line of femur
I: tibial tuberosity via patella ligament
N: L2-L4 femoral nerve
F: leg extension
Iliofemoral ligament
O: AIIS
I: intertrochanteric line
F: prevents hip extension
Pubofemoral ligament
O: Superior rami of pubis
I: intertrochanteric line
F: Excessive aBduction and extension and external rotation
Ischiofemoral ligament
O: ischium
I: below acetabulum and greater trochanter
F: prevents internal rotation and extension/abduction and secures the acetabulum
