Atrial Rhythms Flashcards
What is abnormal with atrial rhythms?
P waves!!!
and rate repending
What happens to P waves in atrial rhythms?
- flattened
- notched
- lost in QRS
What are you looking at with premature atrial contractions?
the P wave
What occurs with a premature atrial contraction?
the P wave looks exactly like all the others, but it comes EARLY!!!!
(single beat is early)
What would you write on the test about PAC?q
“normal sinus rhythm with a PAC”
If there is a PAC every other beat, it is called:
Bigeminy
If there is a PAC every third beat, it is called:
Trigeminy
With atrial tachycardia, what is abnormal?
the rate!! 150-250
P wave is abnormal
With atrial flutter, what is abnormal??
Regularity: can be regular or irregular
Rate: 250-350 (ventricular)
atrial: unable to assess
P wave: SAW TOOTH PATTERN
PRI: unable to assess
What do you think of with atrial flutter?
SAW TOOTH appearance
Atrial flutter:
regularity?
can be regular or irregular
Atrial flutter:
rate?
atrial: unable to assess
ventricular: 250-350
Atrial flutter:
P wave?
SAW TOOTH
Atrial flutter:
PRI?
“unable to assess”
What is abnormal for atrial fibrillation?
it is IRREGULAR
and the rate is MORE THAN 350!!
