atrial rhythms Flashcards
atrial rhythms originate in
the atria
atrial fibrillation
HR:
A- 350-650 bpm
V- slow-> rapid
Rhythm: irregular
Pwave: fibrillatory
QRS: <.12 secs
PR interval: N/A
fibrillatory
fine to course
Atrial flutter
HR:
A- 220-430 bpm
V- <300 bpm
rhythm: variable/regular
Pwave: sawtoothed pattern
QRS: <.12 secs
PR interval: N/A
HR: usually <60 bpm
Rhythm: irregular
Pwave: multiple forms
QRS: <.12 secs
PR interval: variable
wandering pacemaker
multifocal atrial tachycardia
rate is >100 bpm
usually due to a pulmonary issue and is often referred to as SVT by EMS
QRS is narrow and is recognized as a tachycardia
SVT (atrial tachycardia)
HR: 140-250 bpm
Rhythm: regular
Pwave: abnormal before each QRS
QRS: <.12 secs
PR interval: <.20
HR: N/A
Rhythm: irregular
Pwave: premature and abnormal for hidden
QRS: <.12 secs
PR interval: <.20
Premature Atrial Complex
- caused by an abnormal accessory pathway in the conductive tissue
- mainly non-symptomatic with normal heart rates
- if heart rate becomes tachycardia (200-300) it can become lethal, which can be brought on by stress/exertion
