ATR 72 GS Flashcards
Atmospheric Icing Conditions
TAT at or below 7ºC or;
OAT at or below 5ºC on Ground and;
Visible moisture is present (clouds, rain, snow, ice cristals, etc)
Minimum Speed For Flaps Retraction?
It is VmLB of the next flap setting.
Example:
- VmLB0: Minimum speed to retract flaps from 15 ° to 0 °.
VMCG?
Minimum Control speed on the Ground from which
a sudden failure of the critical engine can be
controlled by use of primary flight controls only,
with the other engine operating at RTO power.
VMCA?
Minimum flight speed at which aircraft can be
controlled with 5 ° bank in case of failure of the
critical engine, the other being set at GA power
(landing flaps setting, gear extended) and which
provides rolling capability specified by regulations.
VMCL? SPEED AND CONCEPT.
98KT
Minimum flight speed at which aircraft can be
controlled with 5 ° bank in case of failure of the
critical engine, the other being set at GA power
(landing flaps setting, gear extended) and which
provides rolling capability specified by regulations.
GPU minimus?
28V - 300A-400A - Provides enough power to assure all equipment operation before engine start.
For engine start the GPU must be able to handle the addicional current to handle the starter (>12V - >1000A)
In case of GPU with low capabilities:
LOAD SHEDING = Packs/Fuel Pumps/Recirc Fans/Upper Cabin Lights.
Utility bus PB: may be used but not reccomended (toilet flush/galley equipments/cabin tape player for speeches will be affected).
VFGA?
Final Go-Around Speed. Best climb gradient
speed after the go-around acceleration altitude.
The higher value between Final Takeoff (VFTO)
and Drift-down speed.
Check the QRH performance section for detailed information. - The speeds are the same or have a 1kt difference between them.
VREF vs APP?
VREF: Final approach reference speed for the
determination of the certified landing distance.
VAPP: Final Approach speed is the operational speed
used during landing taking into account
corrections (Wind/Gust/Failure).
= VMHB30 + 1/3 WIND COMP. OR GUST DIF. LIMITED TO 15KT.
V1 VR VLOF V2 VFTO?
V1 is the maximum speed at which the flight crew
can decide to reject the takeoff and is ensured to
stop the aircraft within the limits of runway.
VLOF Speed at which the lift overcomes the weight
VR Speed at which rotation is initiated to reach V2 at
35 ft height.
V2 Takeoff, safety speed reached at 35 ft height with
one engine failed and providing second segment
climb gradient not less than the minimum (2.4 %).
VFTO Final Takeoff speed used during Final Segment
with one engine inoperative and providing climb
gradient not less than the minimum (1.2 %).
The following weather conditions may be conducive to severe in-flight icing:
- Visible rain at temperatures close to 0 °C ambient air temperature (SAT)
- Droplets that splash or splatter on impact at temperatures close to 0 °C ambient air
temperature (SAT)
Autopilot can be operated in SEVERE ICING?
The autopilot may mask tactile cues that indicate adverse changes in handling
characteristics.
So, the use of the autopilot is prohibited when:
- Severe icing defined above exists, or
- Unusual lateral trim requirements are encountered while the aircraft is in icing
conditions, or
- Autopilot trim warnings are encountered while the aircraft is in icing conditions.
Company AP limitations:
Takeoff: 500ft AGL

(except for single engine
operations).
To which light the ice evidence probe (IEP) is related?
NAV lights.

POR QUE DESLIGAR AS RECIRCULATIONS FANS EM CASO DE FUMAÇA?
Recirculation fans can propagate smoke/fumes in all the pressurized areas. Therefore,
several smoke warnings may be triggered.

OVERBOARD CTL VLV IS ____ WHEN ENG. 1 IS ON
CLOSED
WHY COMM HATCH MUST REMAIN OPEN UNTIL ENGINE 1 IS ON?
After boarding, when door is closed (engine 1 not running = OVBD valve open), if the
OVBD VALVE CTL sw remains in AUTO position the extract fan suction will create a very
noticeable pressurization change. This phenomenon becomes more important when operating
with GPU than in hotel mode due to absence of inlet air flow.
In order to avoid this not comfortable situation, when cockpit preparation is performed and, in
any case before closing the passengers door, the cockpit communication hatch must be
opened.
It will be closed after engine 1 start.
PRESSURIZATION LE MEMORY AFTER TO
3500FT AGL AFTER TAKEOFF THE SYSTEM REMEMBERS THE TO ALT.
THE AUTOPILOT HAS NO AUTO _____ AND _____
As there is no auto-trim on both ROLL and YAW axis, it is the flight crew duty to
maintain lateral trimming when speed or power is substantially changed.
this is primarily achieved by maintaining the slip indicator (ball) centered by use of
rudder trim
AILERON MISTRIM message is displayed on
ADU:
- DISCONNECT AP, HOLDING FIRMLY THE CONTROLS
- FLY MANUALLY BEFORE ADJUSTING LATERAL TRIMS
- The autopilot can be reengaged following adjustment of the lateral trims
The QUICK DISCONNECT pb is recommended all normal AP disengagement

Details on blue flap extension flag.
A blue EXT flag appears to indicate that the flap valve is hydraulically commanding flap
extension.
Note
If EXT flag appears when flaps are extended, it means that there is a leak in the flaps
hydraulic circuit.
Flap assym amber light when…
flaps assymetry exceeds 6.7 degrees
Flap unlock amber light?
A FLAP UNLK alert is provided to inform the flight crew of flaps spurious retraction. The alert is
triggered if spurious retraction of more than 4 ° occurs.
Spoilers. When are activated and power source.
2.5º aileron def.
Blue hyd system.

To reengage use the elevator cluth guarded pb on the right maintenance panel. GND ONLY.
AIL LOCK INDICATION.
Comes on amber and the CCAS is activated through the MFC whenever one of the locking
actuators is in disagreement with the GUST LOCK lever position (Lock or Unlock position).
Each electrical fuel pump is able to supply _________________________ through the entire flight envelope.

ICING LIGHT. HOW IT WORKS?
ICING ICING comes on amber when ice accretion is detected provided both
horns ANTI ICING and airframe DE ICING are selected ON.
ICING flashes amber when ice accretion is detected and horns ANTI
ICING and/or airframe DE ICING not selected ON.
FAULT FAULT comes on amber when a system failure is detected (detector fault,
loss of power supply).
DEICING SYSTEM IS CONTROLLED BY?
MFC AND ADC.
OVHD MAY BE USED TO BYPASS THE MFC AND ADC IN CASE OF FAILURE.
What happens when you turn the ANTI ICE HORNS ON?
As soon as at least one of the ANTI ICING HORNS pb is selected ON, stall alert threshold is reduced (Refer to OPERATION). Horns heating are inhibited on ground.
