ATP Synthase and Ox Phos Flashcards
F1 unit - functional role of the subunits that make up this unit?
F1 unit - ATP synthesis is the overall role. alpha 3/beta3,
gamma (green) is attached to F0 and rotates with F0.
Epsilon is a site of regulation.
alphaBeta subunit come together to form a complete active
site for ATP synthesis. There will be three active sites.
gamma - axle that passes through the center of the F1 and F0
unit.
delta - attached to b, help keep alpha helices of b up where
they should be. Supports alpha3/beta3
epsilon - important for assembly and regulation of ATP synthesis
a3b3, gamma, delta, epsilon
F0 unit
a - contains H+ half channels
b2 - helps stabilize the F1 unit to the transmembrane
portion
c8- 8 alpha/alpha helices that rotates within the membrane
bind H+ on Asp residues here
F0 does not make the ATP directly.
