Q

Three types of rain

A

Relief rain: orogrophic
- occurs when a moist air mass is forced to rise over a mountain.

Convectional rain
- occurs when warm, moist air rises rapidly from the Earth surface.

Frontall rain: cyclonic
- occurs when 2 different air masses meet.

Q

Greenhouse effect

A

The greenhouse effect is a natural process that helps to keep the Earth warm. Certain gases in the Earth’s atmosphere, like carbon dioxide and methane, act like a blanket, trapping heat from the sun and preventing it from escaping back into space. This trapped heat keeps the planet at a livable temperature for plants, animals, and humans. However, human activities are increasing the levels of these gases, leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect and causing global warming.

Q

Weather event you have studied

A

Storms
- usually caused by the interaction of different air masses with varying temperatures and moisture content.
- as these air masses collide, they create instability in the atmosphere, leading to the formation of clouds and the release of energy in the form of storms.
