Why did the slave trade started
Britain wanted spices and goods but nobody wanted to work long days in america for little pay so they started getting slaves.
The route of the trade and what goods were traded
Britain to Africa: Britain traded guns for slaves (sometimes just stole them)
Africa to America: slaves for money
America to Britain: money for sugar/cotton etc

12 million africans became slaves, local industries collapsed cause towns taken over, they got guns and money for the slaves.
What is the middle passage and what were some conditions
middle passage was the journey from Africa to America and the slaves were stuck in basement of ship tight pack or lose pack hot lived in own feces crammed buckets for toilets shackled embarrassing 15 to 20 percent of slaves died

trade in india was growing so didnt need it. People became aware of what the middle passage was like. Would have to treat slaves better because couldnt buy new ones, ible says treat people with love and kindness

sold sugar from Jamaica, sold teacups with slaves on it, had posters with slaves saying am i not a man, petetions, held meeting and showed people smelly slave ships

13 percent of male population had signed a petetion to abolish it and presented to king and queen. Debates
Why did it take so long to abolish the trade
People feared slaves would attack us. Bristol and liverpool had a campaign against it because they had ship yards. War with France. Many people made a lot of money of the trade.
