Fate put the idea in the staff’s head that they should be together but this is misinterpreted
Once the pair are left alone it becomes cold and the fly dies of coldness; showing the decline of love
The kiss never came which was foretold by the staff; God is playing with them which is frustrating
The speaker and woman are now in love but can’t be together possibly because they are both married
