What are cf of asthma
Classic traid : Cough, sob and wheeze
Early morning symptoms are high
Exacerbation are associated with : tachypnea, tachycardia, diaphoresis, fatigue, use of assecory muscles.
What are triggers of asthma
Exercise
Cold or hot weather
Infection
Emotional stress
allergen like pollens and dust
resporatory irritant smoke and perfumes
drugs( Nsaid , betablocker, aspirin)
Atopy?
Asthma+ allerhic rhinitis + atopic dermatits
Churg struas syndrome
Astham+ granulamatous vasculitis+ eosinophilia
Samters syndrome
Asthma+ aspirin sensitivity+ nasal polyp
Allergic bronchio pulmonary aspergillosis
Asthma+ pulmonary inflitrate + aspergillosis
Diagnotic cruteria of asthma
IncreaseinFEV1of~15%(& 200ml)withuseofabronchodilator (albuterol).
o Decrease in FEV 1of z 15%after 6 minutes of exercise
o > 20%peak expiratory flow (PEF) diurnal variation on z 3 days in a week
for 2 week.
Methacholine test
It is bronchioconstrictor
In asthma the test is positive i.e. decreased FEV12:20%.
o In COPD the test is negative i.e. no decrease in FEV1.

o CBC
o Skin testing o IgE levels
- eosinophilia
- identifies specific allergens that provoke
b r o n ch o c o n s t r i c t i o n
- increased levels in allergic etiology as well as Allergic
Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA)
