What are the three assumptions?
1) That other people and the environment influence behaviour and thought processes
2) All human behaviour occurs in a social context (even in the absence of others)
3) Our relationships with others influence our behaviour and thought processes
What does dispositional mean in relation to behaviour?
That behaviour is influenced by you as a person such as personality
What does situational mean in relation to behaviour?
Behaviour is changed by a situation you are in
Does the social approach side with dispositional or situational?

binding people to systems of authority
What is conformity?
yielding to group pressure
What is agency theory?
Agentic vs. Autonomous
What does it mean to be in an agentic state?
Not feeling responsible for your actions as you act as an agent for an authority figure
What does it mean to be in an autonomous state?
feeling in control over behaviour and any consequences are your responsibility
