Displacement- redirecting emotions onto another person/ object
Projection- attributing unwanted thoughts to someone else
Repression- burying painful memories in the unconscious

A metaphor of the mind, where the conscious mind is visible above the surface, while the pre conscious (men’s and thoughts) and the unconscious mind (hidden desires, conflicts) lie below
