A

A schema is best described as a ‘collection of ideas’ and we have schemas for a vast number of people, places and activities

What is an example of a schema? (cup of tea)

A

When we make a cup of tea we have a routine that we follow each time

  • Put boiling water into a cup
  • Put the tea bag in
  • Add milk and sugar

How can a schema help us to make sense of new experiences?

A

If you are learning to drive your very first lesson would be a brand new experience. But we would have schemas that will help us make sense of the new experience. For example, if you are able to ride a bike you would have an understanding of gears, brakes and directions
