Assumption 2: Behaviour Learned through Conditioning Flashcards
What Are Two Types Of Conditioning?
- Classical Conditioning
- Operant Conditioning
Describe The 3 Stages Of Classical Conditioning.
- Before conditioning, the UCS causes a UCR.
- During conditioning, a NS is presented alongside the UCS, and this is repeated several times.
- After conditioning, the CS (which was the NS originally) produces the CR.
What Does UCS Stand For?
Unconditioned Stimulus
What Does UCR Stand For?
Unconditioned Response
What Does NS Stand For?
Neutral Stimulus
What Does CS Stand For?
Conditioned Stimulus
What Does CR Stand For?
Conditioned Response
How Is Behaviour Learnt During Operant Conditioning?
New behaviours are learnt through reinforcement.
What 3 Ways Is Behaviour Learnt During Operant Conditioning?
- Positive Reinforcement
- Negative Reinforcement
- Punishment
How Does Positive Reinforcement Work?
Positive reinforcement is when the person is rewarded for their actions, making it likely for them to repeat the actions.
How Does Negative Reinforcement Work?
Negative reinforcement is when behaviour is strengthened due to avoiding something unpleasant, e.g. a detention.
How Is Behaviour Learnt Through Punishment?
Punishment weakens behaviour and should decrease the likelihood that the behaviour will reoccur.
What Is The Opposite Of Reinforcement?
Punishment
