A

Can spread far in air
Can contaminate forests & farms -> contaminate resources we need to survive -> effecting health
Can create acid rain
Breathing in air pollutants can give us diseases
Lung cancer
Emphysema
Can worsen allergies, asthma, colds & pneumonia
Destroy Ozone layer exposing us to more radiation from sun

EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTANTS

A

Accelerates growth of algae that live off the pollutants
When they die & decompose they consume oxygen
Stealing oxygen from other living organisms such as fish
Polluted water can kill plants and animals that live in it
Can get diseases from drinking polluted water
Cholera & Worms
Swimming in polluted water can also affect health because polluted water can enter body through nose or mouth
Some waste in water carries viruses causing hepatitis
Some bacteria in water can cause intestinal disorders

When people think something is wrong with their body & show physical or emotional symptoms indicates they are ill
Get medical help because of feeling ill
People change their behaviour to get well when they think they are ill
Illness can often be a state of mind – if you think you are ill then you will be ill as body & mind have close relationship

When body’s structure changes in unusual way or starts functioning unusually which can limit a person’s ability to develop & functioning normally & ultimately lead to death
Different diseases have specific causes, symptoms & risk factors
Disease manifests because of a combination of factors
Genetic, lifestyle, health behaviours, pathogens (bacteria & viruses, environmental toxins
You can feel ill without having a disease
You can have a disease without feeling ill
Diseases don’t always show obvious symptoms which can lead to people thinking they are healthy when they are not

Have regular discussions with other members
Contribute to help child recover
Plan activities that allow child to play as it is an important part of his development
Child can do activities in their bed or bedroom but it is better if possible to have them do activities in playroom as it lessens hospital stress
Try to get child to do as many of the usual school activities as possible
Plan activities to be designed as individual activities
