Principles of a QAS Operations Centre

A

1) Prioritise every incident
2) Deal with the highest priority incident first
3) Dispatch the closest unit to the highest priority incident
4) Act off the face value of the call
5) There are no geographical boundaries for QAS operations
6) Move available resources to provide optimal area coverage
7) Decide in best interest of the patient
8) WHEN IN DOUBT SEND THEM OUT!!!
9) Document everything
10) DO NO HARM!!!

Operational Resources Coordinated by other OPCEN

A

1) Notify the OCS and/or CDS that an alternate resource has been assigned to the incident.
2) Confirm all incident details with the assigned unit and assist in the timely location.
3) If the alternate unit was reassigned from a lower priority incident ensure the OCS and/or CDS are advised to ensure contact is made with the adjacent OPCEN to arrange reassignment
4) Record all notifications on CAD or the call card
