Assessment Tests Flashcards
1
Q
Halstead-Reitan Battery
A
- Neuropsychological test originally desinged to assess organic brain damage
- Ten items including:
- Trail making test (visuomotor perception and motor speed)
- Critical flicker frequency test (visual perception)
2
Q
Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale
A
- Intelligence test
- Used from age 2 to adulthood
- 120 items
3
Q
Wechsler Memory Scale
A
- Screens for verbal and visual memory therefore yielding a memory quotient
- Good for memory syndromes e.g. Korsakoff’s
4
Q
Ravens Progressivve Matrices
A
- Test of performance IQ
- Free from cultural or language bias
- General intelligence and visuospatial problem-solving
5
Q
National Adult Reading Test
A
- Test of premorbid IQ
6
Q
Wisconsin Cart Sorting Test
A
- Standard test of executive functions affected by frontal lobe lesions.
- Subjects sort stimulus cards of different colours, shapes and numbers into groups according to single principle.
7
Q
Rey-Osterrieth
A
- Test of visual memory that involves asking the subject to copy a complex figure made of basic geometric shapes and then to draw it from memory
8
Q
Paired Associate Test
A
- Test of verbal memory
9
Q
Digit Span
A
- Relatively pure test of attention and working memory
- Normal is 7 +/- 2 depending on age and general intellectual ability - in the elderly 5 can be considered normal
- Reverse span is usually one or two less than forward
- Forms part of verbal subtests of Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS)
10
Q
Stroop Test
A
- Measures set shifting abilities and response inhibition
- Test of frontal function and selective attention ability
11
Q
Trail Making Test
A
- Two parts
- Part A - Simple number sequence is used to join the dots
- Part B - alternating numbers and letters - more sensitive to frontal lobe dysfunction
- Tests visuomotor tracing, attention, conceptualisation and set-shifting.
12
Q
The Bender Visual Motor Gestalt Test
A
- Test of visumotor coordination useful for both children (>3) and adults
- Usualy used in adults as a screening measure for organic dysfunction e.g. after head injury
