What is Diastasis recti abdominis?

A

It’s a separation of the abdominal muscle that happens especially in women with poor abdominal muscle tone. Part of the abdominal wall has no muscular support and is formed only by skin, SQ fat, fascia and peritoneum. Especially pronounced after c-sections.

Due to puerperal diuresis in which the kidney must eliminate around 2000-3000 mL of extracellular fluid with the normal pregnancy.
