What is aesthetics?
Aesthetics is the word used when explaining or thinking about how a product looks. This includes shape, colour, material, texture and proportion
What is cost?
This is how much the product will buy to cost but also how much it will cost for raw materials, the manufacturing process and also transportation
What does environment mean?
The term environment can be applied to two aspects of a product. The environment the product is used in and the impact it has on the environment
What is safety?
Safety is extremely important in every product which comes into contact with humans
What is ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the study of how humans interact with products. It can be split into anthropometrics (size), physiology and psychology.
What is function?
The function of a product is basically what the product does. A product can have a primary function and secondary functions.
What does the term materials mean?
This is what the product is made from. The materials have to be appropriate for the use of the product.
What does the term performance mean?
The performance of a product is about how well it works (the quality of the function)
What is durability?
The durability of a product is related to it’s ability to withstand wear and tear

What operations can be performed using a milling machine or lathe?
Drilling and reaming

What tool can you use to bend metal?
Folding bars hold the metal in place so that when you hit the metal it bends
What are pop rivets used for?
To join together pieces of metal
