ASSESMENT PREP Flashcards
What is Vne
The never exceed speed.
The maximum speed allowed to insure structural integrity in SMOOTH AIR
What is Vno
The normal operating speed.
What is Vfe
The maximum speed we can fly with flaps extended.
What is Va
The maximum manœuvring speed at which the full aerodynamic control will not overstress the airplane
What is Vr
The rotation speed or else Take off speed
What is the Vy
The best rate of climb speed at which we can have the most altitude gain in the shortest time
What is the Vx
The best angle of climb speed at which we can have the most altitude gain in the shortest distance
What is the Vmd
Is the Minimum Drag Speed at which we have the best glide angle and gives us the best range in a glide.
Can V1 be above Vr?
It can but we don’t use it, that’s why we have same Vr&V1 if V1 is higher. In the tables it can be higher but in real life is not applicable
What is an ADF?
It’s a Beacon
Which are the secondary radios?
NDB & Transponder
What a DME mearures?
A DME measures slant range distance. The higher and the closer to the VOR the biggest the error.
Rule of Thump the error is not important for every 1nm/1000ft.
Example for 10000ft high the airplane will have accurate measurements when at 10dme from the station.
What is the operation of DME
DME radio operates over line of sight distances like VHF comm and navigation radios.
Operation of SSR
The ground station sends a pulse on 1030Mhz frequency (continuously in Mode A,C and selective, in Mode S) from a rotating antenna. The aircrafts transponder, within line of sight, hears the signal and replies on 1090Mhz with it’s information.
SSR Interrogation Modes
A 8μs IDENTITY. 12pulses. 2 framing bracketed pulses
C 21μs ALTITUDE. 11pulses
S 3.5μs MULTIPURPOSE. P1&P2
