What is Hubris?
Tragic hero has too much pride which leads to downfall.
What is Anagnorisis?
Anagnorisis is the tragic realisation. Generally comes too late.
What is Peripeteia?
Peripeteia is the reversal of circumstances. Tends to occur at the same time as anagnorisis.
What is Hamartia?
Hamartia is the tragic flaw that the protagonist has- results in their downfall.
What is Catharsis?
Catharsis is the purging of emotions. Often pity or anger. As aristotle said tragedy is for the general public to release tensions.
What is Fate?
A power that predetermines the course of events.
What is Pathos?
pathos is the pity/ sadness in audience.
What is Catastrophe?
The point at which the circumstances overcome the central motive, introducing the close conclusion.
What is Blindness?
Blindness is when the characters of the tragedy don’t see what is truly happening
What is Calamity?
calamity is a great misfortune or disaster.
What is Tragic Flaw?
The tragic flaw is the defect of the protagonist that causes their downfall.
What is Denouement?
Denouement is the final outcome of the dramatic compilation. The suspense ends and the tension unwinds providing closure.
What is learning and moral growth?
Learning and moral growth is the advancement and the success of a character.
