A.S.M.E. CODE Flashcards
How are steam fittings for a boiler constructed.
Steam fittings must be constructed in accordance with the ASME code.
According to ASME code how must are safety valves connected to the boiler
They must be connected to the boiler shell according to ASME code, with no intervening valves between the safety valve and boiler.
What type of safety valve is allowed.
The only type of safety valve allowed is the spring-loaded pop-type safety valve.
According to ASME code how many safety valves are required for boilers with more than 500 sq. ft. of heating surface.
ASME code requires that every boiler have at least one safety valve. Boilers with more than 500 ft^2 heating surface shall have 2 safety valves.
What type of inlet should you have for safety valves over 3” diameter for pressures over 15 psi.
Safety valve over 3” diameter for pressures over 15 psi shall have a flanged or a weld-end inlet.
According ASME code how is safety valve discharge piping connected.
Safety discharge piping must be installed and connected to the safety valve, which allows proper discharge of steam, but does not place strain on the safety valve.
