Q

What is the difference between AGC and TNR?

A
  1. TNR acts instantaneous whereas AGC has a 100ms attack time.
  2. AGC is broadband and TNR is chennel-specific, therefore will only attenuate frequencies where the transient noise is dominant

Q

What are some considerations for ASM settings with SSD/AHL recipients?

A

Most persons like to have a balanced sound between ears, therefore consider:

  • What ASM 2 features is the recipient using, if any?
  • Considering starting with AI ‘off’ to sound more like the contralateral ear (if normal hearing)
  • Consider adding AI after the patient ahas acclimatized to the CI and has a stable map
  • If wearing a HA on the contralateral ear - set ASM features similarly if known
  • Every patient is different, gather feedback and adjust parameters accordingly
