The Line Experiment & Aim
A
Aim: to measure extent to which ppl conformed to opinion of others, even when others’ answers are wrong.
1) 123 American male pps
2) 1 pp put into room with a group of confederates and were asked to pick which lines matched on 2 whiteboards.
3) The cons were told to to start by getting answers right then slowly pick consistent wrong answers.
4) Pps at first picked right answers then began conforming to group’s answers even if they disagreed. (Compliance)
