Ascending Tracts Flashcards
What do ascending tracts do?
Send information TOWARD the brain
Are ascending tracts sensory or motor?
sensory
Sensory tract for the trunk, neck, and UE sensory info including: proprioception, vibration, 2-point discrimination, and graphesthesia
Fasciculus Cuneatus
Where is the fasciculus cuneatus located?
dorsal column, posterior
Sensory tract for the trunk and LE info including: proprioception, vibration, 2-point discrimination, graphesthesia
Fasciculus Gracilis
Where is the fasiculus gracilis located?
Dorsal column, posterior
Ascends to cerebellum for ipsilateral subconscious proprioception, tension in muscles, joint sense, and posture of the trunk and LE
Dorsal Spinocerebellar Tract
Ascends to cerebellum, some fibers cross and then recross in the pons for ipsilateral subconscious proprioception tension in muscles, joint sense, and posture in trunk, UE, LE.
Ventral Spinocerebellar Tract
Ascends to cerebellum and relays info from cutaneous and proprioceptive organs
Spino-Olivary Tract
Afferent pathway for reticular formation that influences level of consciousness
Spinoreticular Tract
Sensory tract providing afferent info for spinovisual reflexes and assists with movements of eyes and head towards a stimulus
Spinotectal Tract
Light touch and pressure
Anterior Spinothalamic Tract
Pain and temperature sensation
Lateral Spinothalamic Tract
