Who do ASA procedures apply to?
A
A person aged over 18 years or older at the time of reporting a sexual assault.

What are the time-frames for ASA complaints?
A
Acute = reported within 7 days of offence
Non-acute = reported between 7 days and 6 months of offence
Historic = reported more than 6 months after offence.
NOTE time does not necessarily determine the level of risk or urgency, it is dependant on the individual circumstances.

What are the key process points in an ASA investigation?
A
- Initial action (brief details, likely PST)
- Case referral (to CIB or ASA)
- Providing specialist support (with victim consent)
- Preliminary interview (CIB or ASA investigator)
- Information feedback (inform victim of next steps)
- Medical information (MEK)
- Formal interview (L3 EVI)
- Investigation and evidence assessment
- Resolution options
- Prosecution (keep victim informed, bail conditions etc)
- Final actions and record keeping
- Prevention opportunities and responsibilities (educational opportunities, environmental design etc)
