Q

what is the procedure for governor failure with symptoms of large drop of fuel flow rate - symptoms as per engine fail but Ng stabilises at a low RPM value below 70% after a few seconds

A
  • establish autorotation IAS 65kts
  • advance fuel control lever into emergency sector
  • Ng and T4 should rise
  • control engine speed to 70% Ng
  • If necessary increase Collective to bring RPM to 350 RPM
  • Increase fuel control till RPM 380 RPM
  • trim collective and fuel flow control to hold level flight at this rotor speed

Q

what is the procedure for governor failure with symptoms of NG, T4, NR , Tq increase - excessive fuel flow rate.

A
  • Do not reduce colletive
  • Reduce fuel flow control lever till RRPM indicator is in the middle of the green.
  • continue flight with governor out of action.
  • any reduction of collective pitch will require reduction in fuel flow or vice versa
  • set up approach for shallow run on landinging

Q

what are the symptoms and procedure for surging ?

A
  • surging indication is fluctuating RPM, Tq and T4 and jerks in yaw axis.
  • change collective setting.
  • If surging persists while fuel and oil pressure are correct, reduce fuel flow by taking fuel control lever out of the gate (governed range - below 80%Ng)
  • If surging still persists - land as soon as possible.
