AS - Quality Flashcards
Why is QA put in place
To ensure the product fulfills all requirements including customer satisfaction
What is quality assurance
They’re systems used by the manufacturer to minister the quality of the product all the way from design and development to manufacture and end use, so if the customer is satisfied
What is quality control
QC is a part of QA that involves the inspection and testing of a product during or immediately after PRODUCTION ONLY
Why are there QC checks in production
To check that tolerances are being adhered to
What is 100% inspection
All units in the batch are inspected
What is normal inspection
A sample is inspected
What is reduced inspection
Smaller samples are inspected as an economy measure when the product is sufficiently good quality
What is computer aided inspection
Use a CMM ( coordinated measuring machine ) for dimensional measuring
What are laser scanning systems
They measure thousands of points in one scan and use data obtained not just for size and positioning of components but to create a CAD 3D model of any parts
What is done for more accurate testing
Strict quality conditions in a lab are used to ensure accurate results
What is failure testing
And an e.g.
Product is tested until it shows signs of failing
E.g. Cracking so the amount of force is a known value to break the product
What is destructive testing and an e.g.
Product is destroyed under controlled conditions and ministered for valuable data
E.g. Euro new car assessment program (NCAP) for car safety testing
