AS cervical fractures

A
  • cervical fractures common due to osteoporosis and long lever arms
  • high rate of neurological injury
  • mri - to assess for fracture line, haematoma, disc involvement and cord oedema

DISH

A

diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis
- diabetes

Diagnosis
- non-marginal syndesmophytes at three successive levels (4 contiguous vertebrae)
- preservation of disc space
- absence of facet-joint ankylosis
- absence of SI joint erosion
- no sacral involvement
