A

Atheromas (fatty deposits) + sclerosis (hardening of bv walls)

Process of atherosclerosis

A
  1. Chronic inflammation
  2. Activation of immune system
  3. Lipid deposition
  4. Fibrous atheromatous plaques
  5. Stiffening of walls –> hypertension
  6. Stenosis –> reduced blood flow –> angina
  7. Plaque rupture –> thrombosis –> ishcaemia (eg ACS)
