Arteries + veins of axilla Flashcards
What 5 arteries supply the upper limb, proximal to distal?
Subclavian Axillary Brachial Radial Ulnar
When does the artery become the axillary artery?
Lateral border of 1st rib
What does the axillary fibrous sheath enclose?
Axillary artery/vein, cords + branches of brachial plexus
What are the 3 parts of the axillary artery and their branches?
1st part = proximal to pec. minor, branch = superior thoracic artery
2nd part = posterior to pec. minor, branches = thoracoacromial artery + lateral thoracic artery
3rd part = distal to pec. minor, branches = subscapular artery, anterior + posterior circumflex humeral arteries
Where do the circumflex humeral arteries go?
Anastomotic network around surgical neck of humerus, fractures damage them
Where does the axillary vein commence?
Inferior border of teres minor
What are the branches in the 3 parts of the axillary vein?
2nd + 3rd parts of axillary vein have tributaries same as axillary artery branches
1st part receives the cephalic vein
Generally, what does the axillary vein drain?
Deoxy. blood from arm/axilla/superolateral chest wall
