Arterial Blood Gas Flashcards
Blood test that measures the acidity and the level of carbon dioxide and oxygen from an artery
Arterial Blood Gas
Easiest method of interpreting ABG
Romanski Method
Refers to the acid-base balance of blood.
pH
Refers to the amount of carbon dioxide that is in arterial blood.
Partial Pressure of carbon dioxide (PaC02)
Refers to the total amount of C02 that is transported in the blood.
Bicarbonate
Refers to the amount of oxyen in the arterial blood.
Partial pressure of oxygen (Pa02)
Refers to the amount of hemoglobin in the blood that is saturated with oxygen.
Oxygen saturation Sa02
What are the first 3 values, and what are their values?
pH= 7.35-7.45
PaC02= 35-45 mmHg
HC03= 22-26 mEq/L
What are the other values ?
Pa02= 85-100 mmHg
Sa02= 95-100%
