Explain gouache
Opaque water based water colour
Pigment mixed with gum, water and white pigment
More water the more see through it becomes
Explain tempera
Pigment mixed with egg yolk , water and oil so that water and oil mix. Due to chemical reaction between paint and air the effect is not long lasting
Explain fresco
Start applying paint to wet plaster. Colours are absorbed by the plaster. Longest lasting effect because it becomes a part of the wall not just a top layer like other effects.
Steps to a fresco
Apply wet plaster on the wall
Artist has drawn design on paper, transfer drawing onto plaster by putting paper on the plaster, making little dots, and dusting charcoal powder onto dots
The paint the image and needs to Complete before plaster is dry.
