What is the art-making practice?
A series of actions taken by an artist in the production of their work
Outline what Influences involve
The contextual factors surrounding an artist affect what they present through their art. They respond to issues or concepts they find personally relevant.
E.g. People, places, events, art, beliefs, spirituality, technology etc.
Outline what Intentions involve
These are the motives behind an artist’s art-making. An artist comes to develop a philosophy behind HOW and WHY they go about art-making.
Outline what Choices involve
This refers to how an artist treats and uses their materials/media.
An artist may use a particular material to utilise their technical proficiency, reflect their conceptual focus, or to simply experiment with new materials i.e. New technology
Outline what Actions involve
This refers to the specific methodology an artist uses in physically creating their work.
Depending on artistic norms, an artist may either follow the conventions of their media, or innovate and push the boundaries.
By developing their actions, artists form their own visual language, through personal signs or symbols.
This also refers to how an artist works professionally and presents their work to the audience e.g. exhibitions, performances, selling works
