Section 494 CC provides which authorities for arrest of a person without a warrant?
A peace officer MAY arrest any person who
a) who has committed an indictable offence or a person the officer believes on reasonable grounds has committed or about to commit an indictable offence
b) the officer finds committing a criminal offence
c) on reasonable grounds, the officer believes is wanted on a warrant of arrest or commital, which is in force within the territorial jurisdiction where the person is found
OR
d) has contravened or about to contravene the terms of a criminal release
e) has committed an indictable offence while on release for a criminal offence
f) is found committing or it is believed on reasonable grounds is about to commit a breach of the peace.
What 3 types of release are there?
1) Unconditionally with no court proceedings
2) Unconditionally with intent to seek criminal summons
3) By way of an appearance notice
What other authorities may a police officer arrest under?
1) HTA
2) LLA
3) TTPA
When can an officer enter a dwelling house?
1) Arrest warrant endorsed with authorization to enter
2) Arrest warrant accompanied by a separate entry authorization warrant
3) When reasonable grounds to believe to suspect entry into dwelling is necessary to prevent imminent bodily harm or death to any person
4) Reasonable grounds to believe that evidence relating to commission of an indictable offence is present in the dwelling and entry is necessary to prevent the imminent loss or destruction of evidence
5) Fresh pursuit

What symptoms can be displayed in a person experiencing excited delirium?
- abnormal tolerance to pain or pepper spray
- paranoia
- bizarre or aggressive behaviour
- disorientation
- hallucinations
- impaired thinking
- panic
- shouting
- sudden calm after frenzied activity
- sweating, fever, heat intolerance
- unexpected physical strength
- violence towards other

What actions must a police officer take when arresting a person with a disability who requires a guide dog
- make reasonable efforts to have the guide dog accommodated by friends or family
- contact TPOC for further resources ie. Canine Vision Canada or the Humane Society
- not transport the guide dog to court with the prisoner
