Turns on multi lane roads
for right turn - enter the right lane well in advance and make a tight turn into the right lane of cross street
for left turns - move near the center line and turn from the inside lane in such a way that you will not swing wide and enter just to the right of the center lane.
If intersections are marked to permit turns from more than one lane, you may make turn as indicated by signs or pavement marking.
“U” Turns
No “U” turn on a curve, near the top of a hill or anywhere you cannot be seen by other drivers for at least 500 ft.
Passing
On two lane roads, with traffic moving in both directions, you may pass traffic on the left if the pass can be completed safely and without exceeding the speed limit.
In preparing to pass, check the road ahead for sufficient distance, and road behind for other traffic that may be preparing to pass you. Turn your left signal before passing. After passing, turn your right signal on to return to the right lane. you should return to the right lane only after you see the entire front of the vehicle you just passed.
When your car is being overtaken, stay in your lane and do not increase your speed.
When to avoid to pass
within 100 feet of a bridge, viaduct or tunnel if your view is obstructed.
within 100 ft of any intersection or railroad grade crossing
On a hill, curve, or any no passing zone
anytime when the left side of the road is not clearly visible or free of oncoming traffic
where signs prohibit passing
where there is a solid yellow line on your side of the centerline
within 100 feet of the emergency vehicle that is stopped on the side of the roadway and has emergency lights on
No Passing Zone
is the pennant-shaped warning sign which marks the beginning of a no passing zone, and is placed on the keft side of the road facing the driver
Double solid yellow line
Prohibits traffic in both directions from crossing the centerline.
Passing on the right
Do not drive on the shoulder to pass except during an emergency or when directed. Check traffic ahead and behind to use signals to show your intentions.
Following other vehicle
Do not follow a vehicle more closely than what is reasonable and prudent. Weather, road and traffic conditions influence how far this distance is. You must be able to turn or stop to avoid collision in case the vehicle in front makes a sudden stop.
Use 2 second rule under normal conditions and 4 second rule under adverse conditions. Increase the distance if you are following a vehicle which makes frequent stops e.g. school bus, delivery vehicle etc.
