Definition of an imitation firearm
Anything that has the appearance of being a firearm weather or not it is capable of discharging any shot, bullet etc.
Definition of a firearm
Anything from which any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile can be discharged by force of explosive.
Definition of a pistol
Any firearm that is to be held and fired with one hand and includes any firearm that is Less than 762mm in length
Definition of a restricted weapon
Any weapon declared a restricted weapon by the Governor-general Eg •Molotov cocktails •grenades •rocket lunchers

substance capable of exploding or producing a pyrotechnic effect

A firearm which after being loaded, fires, ejects, chambers a cartridge with each pull of the trigger

Powers to demand particulars
Every person in possession of any •Firearm •Airgun, pistol, restricted weapon Shall on demand give their Particular To any member of police who is in uniform...or produces evidence they are a police member.

Refusal to give particulars
Any person refuses to give those details or gives false details to any member of police, they may
•Caution the person or
•if person persists to refuse or fails to give particulars they can be arrest ed without warrant.

Occupies of land and drivers of vehicle
Every person in l occupation of any land or building and the driver of any vehicle on which any Firearm, pistol, imitation firearm, restricted weapon or explosives found is deemed to be in possession of that thing unless they prove that it was not on their property and that it was in the possession of some other person.
Revoking firearms licence….
If you suspect on reasonable grounds that a flic holder is not fit to be in possession of a firearm…inform arms officer..a decision will be made whether or not to revoke the persons licence
Firearm licence categories
A = full license for the possession and use of conventional firearms (not pistol, restricted weapon or MSSA)
B = pistols providing the owner is a member of a pistol club
C = collections, restricted weapons and use of weapons in a theatrical performance
D = firearm dealers
E = military style semi-automatic firearms
Definition of airgun
Airgun includes Weapon from which, by the use of gas or compressed air any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile can be discharged.
