Define “FIREARM”
Anything that is used to discharge a bullet by force of explosion, includes:
• Anything that is adapted to discharge bullet/projectile
• Anything by its completion / replacement / correction / repair of any defects
• Anything capable of being dismantled or partially dismantled
Define “PISTOL”
• Any firearm designed to be held by one hand
• Less than 762 mm long
Define “PROHIBITED FIREARM”
• Semi automatic firearm except for pistol
• A detachable or non-detachable pump-action shotgun that can hold more that 5 rounds
Duration of firearms license issued
10 years
Categories of firearm licence and conditions
A = Full License
B = Pistole (Belong to pistol club)
C = Collectors, Restricted Weapons & Theatrical Use
D = Firearm dealers
Legal possession of firearms and air guns
0 - 16
• Cannot own a firearm or air gun but can use it under immediate supervision of license holder
16 - 18
• Requires license for both firearm and air gun
18+
• Requires license for firearm but not for air gun
License Holder Duties
1) Keep license legible and undamaged
2) Produce license on demand or within 7 days at Police station
3) Report to Police within 30 days of any changes to address or license holder
4) Report to Police ASAP if firearm has been involved in any death or injury
5) Report theft, loss or destruction of firearm to Police in writing
