Arm Flashcards
Name the 5 muscles of the arm
Triceps Brachii Anconeus Biceps brachii Brachialis Coracobrachialis
What nerve innervates the triceps brachii?
Radial nerve
What nerve innervates the anconeus?
Radial nerve (C5 - T1)
What nerve innervates the biceps brachii?
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)
What nerve innervates the brachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve and radial nerve (C7)
What nerve innervates the coracobrachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)
What artery supplies the triceps brachii?
Branches of profundal brachii artery
What artery supplies the anconeus?
Deep brachial
What artery supplies the biceps brachii?
Muscular branch of brachial artery
What artery supplies the brachialis?
Radial recurrent artery, muscular branches of brachial artery
What artery supplies the coracobrachialis?
Muscular branches of brachial artery
Triceps brachii
Extends forearm at elbow, long head stabilises head of abducted humerus and extends and adducts arm at shoulder
Anconeus
Assists triceps in extending elbow, abducts ulna in pronation
Biceps brachii
Flexes and supinates forearm at elbow
Brachialis
Flexes forearm at elbow
Coracobrachialis
Flexes and adducts arm at shoulder
Insertion of triceps brachii
Long head - infraglenoud tubercle of scapula
Lateral head - upper half of posterior humerus
Medial head - distal 2/3 of medial and posterior humerus
TO
Posterior surface of olecranon process of ulna
Insertion of anconeus
Posterior surface of lateral epicondyle of humerus to lateral surface of olecranon and posterior proximal ulna
Insertion of biceps brachii
Long head - supraglenoud tubercle of scapula
Short head - tip of coracoid process of scapula
TO
Radial tuberosity, fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
Insertion of brachialis
Distal half of anterior surface of humerus to coronoid process and tuberosity of ulna
Insertion of coracobrachialis
Tip of coracoid process of scapula to middle third of medial surface of humerus
