Aquinas’s Natural Moral Law
5 Primary Precepts: POWER (Preservation of innocent life, Ordered society, Worship god, Educate children, reproduce.)
Bentham’s Utilitarianism
A consequentialist theory, an action is good if it maximises happiness for the greatest number, hedonistic because it regards happiness as our ultimate aim.
Kantian ethics
We should never treat rational beings as objects or as means to an end. Respect the autonomy of all rational beings by not imposing our will on them.
Mill’s Liberalism
Founded on the Harm Principle: if an action doesn’t harm anybody else then that person should be free to perform it.
Scruton’s Conservatism
Political theory, we should conserve our traditions because tradition is a source of inherited wisdom and it would be destructive to abandon.
Divine Command Theory
Moral requirements come from God’s commands. (in other words if god said it was okay then it is morally okay)
Perfect being theology
theological view that god is perfect in every way. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent. everything he commands is perfect (1 John 3:5)
