ARF Flashcards
1
Q
How does ARF develop
A
Rapidly with little time for physiologic compensation
2
Q
What is ARF
A
Disturbed gas exchange resulting in abnormal ABG values
- PaO2 <60mmHg (hypoxemia)
- PaCO2 >50mmHg (hypercapnia)
- pH <7.35 on RA
3
Q
What are the diff types of RF
A
- Type 1 RF (hypoxemia without hypercapnia) - OXYGENATION FAILURE
- Type 2 RF (hypoxemia with hypercapnia) - VENTILATION FAILURE
