what is the function of the cervical vertebrae
- provides mobility and stability to the head
- attach muscles to the neck
what are the two parts of the cervical vertebrae
atlas- top that allows nod
axis- allow rotation of head
what is the function of the thoracic vertebrae
- ribs attach to them to support
- allow is slight movement- being forward, backward and side to side
what is the lumbar vertebrae
- large range of movement and allows flexibility
- attach muscles of lower back
what is the sacral vertebrae
a strong base that passes force from legs and hips to upper body
what is the coccyx vertebrae
no function
what is the anterior
front
what is the posterior
back
what is superior
top(cranium)
what is inferior
