Q

What is the RC application process?

A

Project initiation outline risks to clients of RC. During design conduct a DP audit to determine if a consent is required. Depending on the design, planner may be required.
Determine if pre app is worthwhile.
Complete documentation and AEE, gain neighbour sign off if a good option and they’re willing.
Complete application form on behalf of clients if so agreed.
Answer RFI’s.
will know in 10 WD if notification is triggered.
If rejected, can object in writing to the council which triggers them getting decision reviewed with a hearing. Can also appeal directly to the environment court which has the same powers as the district court.

Q

What is a designation?

A

The RMA allows for areas of land to be designated for particular network utility uses under the district plan. Once in the plan they can be carried out there at any time without having to comply with district planning rules. Submit an outline plan or works to prove the proposed work is in line with the limitations of the designation.
