What are the five cloud characteristics

What does broad network access mean ?
Services are accessible by standard means such as the use of a web browser to access SAAS regardless of users OS, browser and so on
What does rapid elasticity mean ?
The customer can grow or shrink the IT footprint as necessary to meet operational needs without excess capacity.
What does measured service mean ?
The customer is charged for only what they use and nothing more.
What drives security decisions ?
business needs
What is a business impact assessment ?
It is an assessment of the priorities given to each asset considering the impact harm or loss each asset to the business.
What are the costs of compliance ?
Costs of the legislative and contractual requirements mandated for your organisation.
What is the cloud benefit Reduction in Capital Expenditure mean ?
No more wasted capacity or running at max capacity from on site infrastructure which are capital costs because using the cloud is an operational expense the entire payment is tax deductable.
What is cloud bursting ?
Normal operations run on premise but increased demand is covered by the cloud.
What are the reduction in personnel costs ?
Reduced need for specialized IT staff because the cloud takes care of the on prem activities they would normally be involved in.
What are the reduction in operational costs ?
Same as the reduction in personnel costs.
What is the advantage of transferring regulatory costs ?
Most cloud providers have regulatory compliance that you benefit from by using the cloud.
What is the reduction in costs for data archival and backup
By exploiting cloud resources which are cheaper than having your own off site backup and storage.
What are the three main cloud service models ?
SAAS, IAAS and PAAS
What is IAAS ?
It allows for the customer to install all software including operating systems software may be a good choice for those companies that have security concerns and want to retain control of that data.
What is a Cloud Access Security Broker
A third part entity offering independent IAM services to CSP and cloud customers.
What is SAAS ?
IAAS + PAAS + Software
What are the four main deployment models for cloud ?
Public, Private, Hybrid and Community
What is the public deployment model ?
Multitenant shared
What is private deployment model ?
Resources dedicated to a single customer might be owned by the cloud customer or not but can be offered by public cloud providers
What is the community deployment model ?
Infrastructure and processing owned by an affinity group it can be provisioned by a third party
What is the hybrid deployment model ?
Contains elements of other models
Who is the cloud customer ?
The organisation purchasing, leasing or renting the cloud services.
What is a cloud broker ?
A company that purchases hosting services from a cloud provider and resells them to its own customers.
