what do we do when we make predictions while reading?
we make a guess about what is likely to happen next
we base our predictions from these factors:
- prior knowledge
- details from the text
- information gained by reading titles, headings, and pictures in the text
elements of informational text:
- provides factual information
- includes evidence to support ideas
- may contain text features to organize and clarify ideas
- includes domain-specific vocabulary
