These meds stop the action of angiotensin II by stopping them from Binding to the angiotensin II receptor sites on blood vessels

This lowers the work load of the heart and bp . So as a result the blood vessel (arteries and veins) relax and dilated causing more blood flow to the heart

They also help the excretion of sodium and water

Pregnant/breast-feeding and Hyperkalemia or renal failure

Ace inhibitors
